Man shares neighbour’s ‘petty’ lawn mowing act and sparks a fierce debate

It can be a fine balancing act to maintain good relationships when it comes to your neighbours.

What begins as a small issue over things like noise complaints or shared spaces can lead to years of passive-aggressive behaviour.

And it appears one neighbour may have just sparked a Titanic battle of back and forth when it comes to their front garden.

Twitter user @Chialton saw his tweet go viral after posting a photo showing the results of his neighbour’s lawn mowing, writing: “Next door with top class grass banter.”

In the image, the lawn in front of the two neighbouring properties has been cut on one side, creating a perfect line in the grass where the drainpipe separates the two homes – and leaving behind a measly patch of uncut grass no more than a metre wide on one side.

The post racked up more than 88,000 likes and divided opinion, with some slamming it as “petty” while others argued they saw no issue.

The user who uploaded the photo hilariously added: “Decided I’m going to leave it, when their grass grows back I’ll mow mine. I will like this game.”

One reply labelled it “10/10 for pettiness” and plenty of people came back with their own suggestions of how to take revenge.

“Never cut that piece of grass, ever. Let it become a jungle,” one comment read.

A second said: “You need to knock and see if you can borrow his lawn mower.”

Another added: “Put a string line from wall square of house which will show he has cut part of yours. Then note through door saying please do the cut my grass again.”

But some people argued they would have done the same, as one replied: “Not sure why you expect them to do it? I get it’s just a bit, but it’s still yours.”

While another person joked: “He’s probably going to the shop at some point, do you just wanna give him your list?”
